3DTV is the latest trend in home entertainment technology that enables consumers to view specially designed movies. television programs, and video games in three dimensions. There are a number of companies currently developing 3D television technology such as Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung to name a few. These 3D manufacturers are producing 3D-ready TV sets and 3D-capable Blu-ray devices.
There are two main differences between the 3D technology that is being used today. 3D movies and presentations that are viewed in the movie theater have a much larger screens in which you sit directly in front of. This translates to a pretty standard viewing angle and the ability to use simple passive polarized 3D glasses. Whereas home 3D televisions being smaller and occupy a smaller percentage of the viewers field of vision (FOV) will require special designed active liquid crystal shutter glasses. Since the technology isn’t fully developed it will be some time before the differences are made completely clear.
